About Us:

My name is Bill Halik and I started Halik Healthcare in October 2000. I started selling equipment in Nursing Homes and Hospitals in 1988. Back then lift devices had chains and the bathing systems had chairs that would raise people up and over the top of the tub. We didn’t know any better back then. Fortunately the equipment has evolved into what we have today. Luckily I have been around this whole time and I have seen what some manufacturers did and what some manufacturers failed to do. I have been very selective with the different manufacturers I chose to work with. This is the reason we have been in business for 20 years.

 
 

In 1988, when I started, some people in the industry said the best way to succeed is to take care of your customers. Visit with them, ask questions, and see what their needs are. I did this through training and servicing my customers. I have developed a reputation as someone who will help my customers save money and help them become more profitable.

The reason I started Halik Healthcare Products was because I wanted to make sure the equipment I sold could be maintained at a reasonable cost. I noticed some manufacturers seemed to lose touch with operational costs and cost of ownership. Companies were overcharging for parts and service calls were ridiculously overpriced.

I chose to be a rep for Penner Manufacturing because their bathing systems all had a 5 year warranty and had only 2 parts that cost over $300.

After a few years I found a lift device that actually had a good reputation for being a safe lift to use and it prevented back injuries.

I was able to use my experience with staff training to help prevent back injuries and reduce my customer’s costs.

 
 

In 2007 “culture change” became the industry buzzword. Penner’s engineer’s decided to turn their reliable healthcare tubs into Spas. Homes with Penner Spas started using the bathroom as a marketing piece.  These homes’ became more profitable by attracting more residents.

As I continue to stay in touch with my customers through training and servicing my accounts I heard that injuries were still occurring in the shower rooms. Some homes used PVC chairs that failed at the joints when rolling over thresholds. I started looking to see if there was a way to help these potential customers. I looked to see what people were doing in Europe because 30 years ago when we were using lifts with chains the Europeans were using the types of lifts we are using today. I noticed height adjustable metal shower chairs with welded joints were very popular in Europe.

After many years of research I found a shower chair manufacturer that I can comfortably recommend to my customers. I am now able to sell the Lopital shower products.

The final piece to the evolution of Halik Healthcare was when I joined the Basic American team. I noticed customers wanted one place to go for everything in their homes. Basic American manufactures beds, furniture, chairs and even tables. They also have their own designers to assist my customers develop homes that people want to live in.
